Why Build?
I got into this career as a teenager. I was 15. I learned from masters at their craft and I saw how through creating walls and floors, roofs and doors, I could create my own future. There is something very satisfying about seeing something built, where nothing stood before. Pride in a job well done. Unfortunately our society has been telling us for the last 30 years that this type of job is for burnouts and people that couldn’t get into college. I am telling you that this is wrong. We need smart, innovative, hardworkers in the building industry. Working with your hands is full-filling and fun. The team atmosphere pushes one to do better also. There is nothing like standing up on the peak of a roof, yelling down a measurement to your cut guy, him throwing you a cut piece of wood from below, you catching it and installing it for a perfect fit. Teamwork, Accomplishment, and you get paid!
Its not for everyone, its hard, sweaty work. It takes perseverance. Its old school.
